Responsibilities
- Lead technical efforts and discussions within a globally distributed engineering team.
- Build web service APIs in Go and Python for CLI and web frontend clients.
- Design, implement, and operate identity management features from specification through production at scale.
- Create and enhance authentication, authorization, and management API endpoints.
- Design and implement end-user authentication flows.
- Implement authorization frameworks for distributed systems.
- Write Juju charms/operators to manage operational concerns.
- Modernize the identity stack across Canonical products and websites through IAM technology adoption.
- Review other engineers’ code and help establish quality standards.
- Own system design, delivery, integrations, strategy, and execution.
Requirements
- Staff-level or experienced senior software engineering experience with specific identity and access management product experience.
- Familiarity with identity-focused open-source software, standards, protocols, OpenID, OAuth, and LDAP.
- Experience implementing authorization frameworks in distributed systems.
- Commitment to secure coding and engineering standards.
- Comfort using Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative describing an alternative career path.
- Exceptional academic performance in high school and university.
- Professional written and spoken English and strong presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events of up to two weeks.
