Base Salary
$210k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and scale the core AI-agent engine covering retrieval, ranking, response generation, and supporting frameworks.
- Design and scale evaluation systems across the platform as new agent types and capabilities are introduced.
- Provide technical depth on fine-tuning and training and make pragmatic decisions about when they are appropriate.
- Make foundational architectural and abstraction decisions with long-term impact on the platform.
- Collaborate with leadership to shape the product and technical roadmap.
- Ship production changes multiple times per day using the team's modern engineering stack.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of engineering experience with significant depth in NLP, search, retrieval, or related machine learning domains.
- Experience predating the current LLM wave and a strong understanding of the underlying fundamentals.
- A track record of designing and deploying sophisticated AI or machine learning systems in production.
- Experience building useful evaluation pipelines and strong judgment regarding evaluation methodology.
- Experience with or strong instincts around fine-tuning, including when to use it, how to implement it, and how to assess tradeoffs.
- Ability to thrive in an early-stage, fast-moving environment with enterprise customers.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to shape how a team approaches difficult technical problems.
- An advanced degree in machine learning, NLP, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous startup experience, particularly at companies that scaled from early to growth stage, is preferred.
