Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain control-plane services that orchestrate network policy and segmentation across Kubernetes clusters and datacenters.
  • Develop integrations with SDN and CNI layers including Istio, Envoy, Calico, and Cilium, as well as Linux networking primitives.
  • Write production-quality code with unit and integration tests, observability, and production support practices.
  • Troubleshoot Kubernetes, Linux networking, and distributed-systems issues and contribute to incident response and postmortems.
  • Improve service reliability, scalability, rollout practices, configuration management, monitoring, and automation.
  • Collaborate with Security, SRE, and Cloud Platform teams on platform capabilities and participate in design, code review, documentation, and implementation planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in backend or systems engineering.
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or a similar systems-oriented language, with experience building distributed services.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Linux, container networking, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience building or operating Kubernetes services, controllers, operators, or similar platform components.
  • Experience running and maintaining services in cloud environments at scale, with familiarity with CI/CD, observability, and production support.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, written communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with etcd, SQL or NoSQL datastores, control-plane design, service mesh technologies, eBPF, advanced networking and policy frameworks, OPA, Gatekeeper, multi-tenancy, multi-cluster controllers, Kafka, PubSub, or SQS.
