Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, test, and provide production support for COBOL and IBM DB2 batch applications supporting Nebraska Medicaid claims processing.
- Analyze and resolve production and test issues for large, complex applications within constrained timeframes.
- Provide scheduled overnight and weekend on-call support for batch claims processing cycles.
- Create and maintain supporting technical documentation.
- Collaborate within a large software development team using structured procedures and guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or another related field, plus two years of experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
- Programming experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Preferred: five or more years of current full-lifecycle COBOL development on an IBM z/OS mainframe with DB2.
- Preferred: five or more years of relational database development, logical and physical design knowledge, and complex SQL experience.
- Preferred: five or more years of CICS development experience.
- Preferred: experience on a software development team of more than 30 people and familiarity with Abend-Aid, File-Aid, QMF/SPUFI, Xpediter, IDCAMS, DB2 Load/Unload, and Syncsort.
- Preferred: experience with Medicaid or claims processing systems.
