Responsibilities
- Bring up custom PCBs and validate processors, sensors, peripherals, and communication interfaces.
- Develop device drivers and firmware features for new and existing hardware.
- Debug issues across firmware and electrical hardware.
- Design and validate communication over CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and USB.
- Characterize, test, and validate firmware and board designs.
- Work with electrical, mechanical, controls, and software engineers to define requirements and ensure reliable hardware/firmware integration.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional firmware or device-driver development experience.
- Strong embedded-systems and firmware fundamentals, including C or C++ programming.
- Experience developing firmware in RTOS environments.
- Strong hardware bring-up experience, including reading schematics and debugging new boards.
- Experience with low-level interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and CAN.
- Experience using JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers for debugging.
- Experience developing device drivers and working with microcontrollers and peripherals.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and ability to collaborate across electrical, mechanical, controls, and software teams.
- BS or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Preferred qualifications include familiarity with ARM Cortex compilers and toolchains, Python or other scripting languages, configuration and release management, continuous integration, unit and regression testing, device time synchronization, signal processing, and robotics experience.
