Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and lead a multi-year modernization of Google’s BMC software architecture across compute, storage, TPU, and GPU platforms.
- Own the Linux kernel, networking stack, installation systems, device drivers, and core kernel subsystems across ARM-based and custom SoCs.
- Partner with hardware engineering, accelerator, and infrastructure teams to define architecture and ensure hardware/software integration.
- Architect software pipelines interfacing with I2C, I3C, SPI, UART, USB, and CANbus board-level topologies.
- Represent Google in the Open Compute Project and other industry bodies, and lead standardization and adoption of the OBMF-ICP framework.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Eight years of experience in software development.
- Five years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- Five years of experience testing and launching software products.
- Three years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with embedded systems, Linux drivers, and C/C++.
- Experience building, configuring, and modifying embedded Linux platforms, including device drivers, device tree architectures, kernel memory management, and board bring-up.
- Experience with hardware management specifications or standards such as DMTF, Redfish, PLDM, and MCTP.
- Experience debugging I2C, I3C, SPI, UART, USB, and CANbus interfaces.
- Proficiency with logic analyzers, I2C and SPI protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Understanding of Linux networking stacks, PXE/DHCP network booting, and secure installation pipelines.
- Experience upstreaming code to the Linux Kernel or contributing to standards bodies such as DMTF and OCP.
