Cloud Security Engineer
Thought MachineResponsibilities
- Provide security expertise and mentorship to engineering teams during solution planning, design, and testing.
- Co-develop threat models and mitigation strategies with engineering teams.
- Design and build scalable cloud-native preventative and detective security controls.
- Build and maintain automation to audit infrastructure-as-code and deployed infrastructure.
- Develop security tooling, contribute to third-party security products, and update existing tools.
- Collaborate with cloud engineering and operations teams to maintain secure production operations.
- Perform security reviews and security testing.
- Contribute to security strategy and security tooling selection and creation.
Requirements
- Experience building and deploying containerized applications in public cloud environments using infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, cloud security, automation, and orchestration.
- Familiarity with threat modeling and security design reviews.
- Knowledge of security in distributed systems and good security practices for containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Go, Python, or other modern programming languages.
- Coding experience creating, automating, and integrating security tools.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining security in public cloud environments such as AWS and GCP.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desirable qualifications include experience operating distributed systems at scale, knowledge of well-architected cloud security frameworks or CSA-CCM, security-community contributions, web application penetration testing, security tooling, and cloud provider APIs.
