Responsibilities
- Design and develop multithreaded embedded software in C/C++ for Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal platforms hosted on multicore SoCs.
- Implement device drivers and management, control-plane, and data-plane functions for satellite RF transceivers, antenna systems, optical systems, customer terminals, and ground gateway terminals.
- Own a designated system area, lead feasibility studies and prototyping, and define extensible software architecture.
- Define strategies for scaling, fault tolerance, and recovery.
- Define performance KPIs and develop measurement and optimization methods for compute, memory, storage, network, and I/O resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware systems.
- Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and system architecture decisions.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues using telemetry, logs, traces, code instrumentation, and software and hardware debugging tools.
- Champion embedded software testing and troubleshooting practices, including automated testing and data analysis automation.
- Lead delivery efforts and mentor software engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of embedded software development experience in C/C++ for Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal platforms.
- Strong proficiency in C++ object-oriented design and implementation.
- Hands-on embedded systems debugging experience using software and hardware tools such as JTAG, SWD, CoreSight, Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link, and J-Trace.
- Experience developing applications using SPI, I3C, I2C, PCIe, and CAN peripherals.
- Experience with Linux networking and inter-core or interprocessor communications using high-speed data-plane interfaces such as Ethernet, Interlaken, and JESD.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Test-Driven Development.
- Experience leading software development teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience with Agile or Scaled Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
- Preferred: 7+ years of embedded software development experience for mission-critical systems.
- Preferred: experience with satellite communications, space-based networks, cellular wireless, or terrestrial telecommunications systems.
- Preferred: experience with software-defined radios, RF transceiver and antenna-system control, or optical transceivers such as ACOs and DCOs.
- Preferred: experience developing drivers for proprietary and merchant silicon, DSPs, mixed-signal processors, or modems.
- Preferred: experience with formal verification methods for safety-critical software and radiation-hardened computing environments.
