Responsibilities
- Design, develop, support, and enhance enterprise web applications and services using PHP and object-oriented development practices.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, web services, JSON integrations, authentication mechanisms, and integrations with third-party and enterprise systems.
- Design and maintain relational database structures, stored procedures, queries, indexes, and performance optimizations.
- Analyze and troubleshoot application, API, database, integration, and production issues, including root-cause analysis and production support.
- Participate in requirements analysis, architecture and technical evaluations, code reviews, testing, deployment, application maintenance, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to write, review, refactor, optimize, document, debug, and troubleshoot code while validating security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Work with Linux hosting environments, web and application servers, load balancing, distributed application state management, CI/CD processes, and deployment environments.
- Collaborate with business, development, infrastructure, database, security, and support teams across geographically distributed locations.
- Estimate effort and delivery timelines, manage priorities, communicate risks and dependencies, and deliver solutions within agreed scope and timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience with hands-on PHP application development.
- Experience developing enterprise web applications and services, working with distributed applications, and collaborating with offshore and onshore teams.
- Strong experience with PHP, object-oriented programming, design patterns, reusable components, clean coding, Composer, debugging, logging, exception handling, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, jQuery, JSON, and XML.
- Experience with at least one PHP framework such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs, JSON integrations, API authentication and authorization, secure API payload handling, and third-party integrations.
- Experience with MySQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server, SQL development, stored procedures, normalization and denormalization, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
- Understanding of Linux, Apache, Nginx, application servers, proxies, reverse proxies, load balancers, distributed application state, scalability, availability, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Git and experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds and deployments, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and/or Jenkins.
- Knowledge of client/server and n-tier architecture, OOAD, UML, software design patterns, secure development, application security, performance optimization, and scalable, testable code.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development or coding tools; GitHub Copilot or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of Angular or React, AWS RDS or similar managed relational database services, payment gateway integrations, SSO, Node.js, Python, AWS, or Vtiger CRM is desirable or advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, estimation, prioritization, ownership, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
