Base Salary
$174k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Research and deploy machine learning models using multimodal LLM understanding, uncertainty estimation, and causal modeling to improve content exploration at scale.
- Lead projects from problem formulation and experimentation design through model training, real-time serving architecture, and production launch.
- Collaborate with Feed Ranking, Content, and Infrastructure teams on retrieval, ranking incentives, and warm-start handoffs.
- Develop zero-history discovery for Discover formats, including surfacing AI-generated content and breaking news shortly after publication.
- Evolve StarSearch to bootstrap fresh, niche, and creator content while pruning unengaged content to maintain a fresh and efficient serving corpus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Five years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- Three years of end-to-end machine learning experience, including model deployment, evaluation, data processing, and debugging.
- Three years of experience building and deploying production recommendation system models involving retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization, search quality, or embeddings, plus architecture experience.
- Experience developing personalization algorithms for user-specific content delivery.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field, five years of experience with data structures and algorithms, experience with bandit systems, reinforcement learning, cold-start problems, feed recommendation or budgeting systems, and real-time evaluation data pipelines and system design.
