Base Salary
$165k - $242k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement managed data-platform solutions delivered through APIs
- Participate in the operation and scaling of relational data platforms
- Develop stream-processing architecture focused on scalability and reliability
- Improve the performance, security, reliability, and scalability of data platforms and related services
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation
- Establish data-access and storage guidelines and guardrails for stakeholder teams
- Ensure compliance with data-protection regulations and standards
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering
- Experience operating production services at scale and familiarity with reliability engineering concepts, testing, progressive deployments, error budgets, observability, and fault-tolerant design
- Understanding of the CAP theorem, concurrency models, data modeling, and data-management guidelines
- Familiarity with distributed NewSQL datastores such as CockroachDB, TiDB, YDB, or Yugabyte, and/or stream-processing tools such as NATS or Kafka
- Experience designing and operating distributed data systems at scale
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, including event-driven or stateful orchestration, and interest in contributing to a Kubernetes operator
- Knowledge of a Linux distribution, shell scripting, and Linux storage and networking stacks
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java and interest in contributing to open source
- Ability to decompose complex problems into achievable tasks and communicate them with teammates
