Responsibilities
- Architect and build a unified fleet control plane with real-time operational visibility across deployed devices.
- Own data models that reconcile claimed or target device states with actual device states across the technology stack.
- Develop device-, site-, and customer-fleet-level execution pathways and maintain state convergence during partial failures or offline periods.
- Build OTA image and firmware deployment pipelines with verified delivery, staged rollouts, automatic rollback, regression gates, and post-deployment hardware validation.
- Develop self-testing and self-healing edge software, including fault escalation, service restarts, secondary-link failover, fallback images, and actionable telemetry.
- Extend release processes from development through production and integrate automated regression gates and end-to-end hardware testing harnesses.
Requirements
- Proven production coding experience in Rust, C/C++, Go, or Python with a focus on fleet reliability, performance, and hardware-level failure modes.
- Hands-on experience architecting software for embedded, IoT, or edge physical devices.
- Experience designing unified fleet control planes and data models for target-versus-actual state reconciliation across distributed deployments.
- Strong distributed-systems experience involving partial failures, state convergence over lossy networks, and self-healing fault escalation.
- Track record of shipping OTA update pipelines, staged rollouts, automatic rollbacks, and post-deployment edge verification over constrained wireless links.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including DNS, firewalls, VPNs, subnets, and secure remote access, with experience spanning embedded software and TypeScript control dashboards.
- Preferred experience with sub-OS environments, boot processes, flash storage, and driver integration.
- Preferred experience with NixOS, Yocto, or Buildroot for deterministic edge releases.
- Preferred experience automating CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Buildkite and integrating regression gates with physical hardware testing harnesses.
