Responsibilities
- Build and operate highly scalable distributed systems for Apple’s globally distributed, multi-tenant iCloud estate.
- Design platform APIs, libraries, frameworks, and service abstractions used by other engineering teams.
- Develop solutions for runtime configuration, gradual and safe change rollout, service dependency records, and platform adoption.
- Drive projects from initial concept through production while managing technical and organizational complexity.
- Create documentation, samples, and self-service onboarding to make the platform easy to adopt.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of industry experience designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
- Deep working experience with Java, Kotlin, or Go.
- Expertise in concurrent and multithreaded programming environments.
- Experience building platform software used by other engineering teams, including API design, versioning, and migration.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
- Preferred: strong background in functional programming with Scala, OCaml, or a typed functional style.
- Preferred: experience with event streaming such as Kafka and key-value data stores such as Cassandra, FoundationDB, or DynamoDB.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, GCP, containers, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
