Base Salary
$124k - $186k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and support Etsy’s observability and telemetry stack for distributed systems.
- Design reliable systems that enable 99.95% availability and improve time to detect, diagnose, and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain developer tooling for metrics, logs, traces, and infrastructure reliability.
- Design, develop, and implement scalable systems across Etsy’s infrastructure stack using Chef, Terraform, Kubernetes, Go, Prometheus, Envoy, and OpenTelemetry.
- Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams on instrumentation, telemetry needs, and upstream and downstream impacts.
- Work with large-scale telemetry including petabytes of logs, millions of metrics, and traces.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience in observability systems or developer tooling roles, preferably in a cloud environment.
- Experience executing multiple large, successful projects within a team environment.
- Professional experience implementing or actively using metrics, logging, and tracing systems.
- Proficiency in at least one of PHP, Python, or Go.
- Experience with cloud architectures such as GCP or AWS.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Chef or Ansible.
- Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration frameworks is preferred.
- Ability to independently tackle well-scoped problems, improve existing code, and communicate effectively.
- Experience working with flexible, distributed teams is a plus.
