Responsibilities
- Define the architectural vision, patterns, standards, and trade-offs for legacy displacement across the Supply domain.
- Design and implement zero-downtime migrations that move domains out of the monolith.
- Build new services and help transition existing systems from Go to Java, Kotlin, and Spring.
- Solve complex, performance-sensitive problems in production-critical backend systems.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, conduct design reviews, and raise the team’s technical quality.
- Collaborate with product managers to clarify requirements and shape roadmaps balancing technical debt with new value.
- Communicate across time zones through effective documentation and asynchronous collaboration.
- Use Grafana and modern tracing to monitor system health and backend reliability.
- Leverage agentic programming tools such as Claude Code to accelerate refactoring and development workflows.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of significant backend engineering experience.
- Deep technical expertise in performance-sensitive, production-critical systems.
- Strong backend engineering experience and comfort switching between languages and codebases.
- Experience with event-driven systems, monolith decomposition, and system migrations.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical direction through architecture and design reviews.
- A strong quality focus and experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- A product mindset with the ability to understand business impact and collaborate on requirements.
- Strong written and async communication skills for distributed, global teams.
- Practical React expertise is welcomed but not required.
