Base Salary

$154k - $246k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-domain system and product-level technical leadership for SSD firmware architecture.
  • Drive architectural requirements, feature assessments, and high-level scoping for customer requests and new products.
  • Lead, develop, review, and document product source code in C/C++.
  • Analyze, architect, and develop firmware according to internal and customer specifications.
  • Develop low-level firmware, operating-system and device architectures in partnership with hardware and ASIC design teams.
  • Perform unit and system-level testing, failure analysis, debugging, and development-phase validation.
  • Translate product requirements into development and validation plans with project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate priorities and engineering activities to achieve committed milestones.
  • Drive architecture decisions involving performance, reliability, power, cost, and scalability tradeoffs.
  • Develop firmware technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging storage technologies.
  • Establish firmware architecture, coding standards, development processes, and technical direction across engineering teams.
  • Engage strategic customers to translate requirements into architectural solutions and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems using C/C++, including 8+ years in SSD firmware architecture or NAND flash storage systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership across cross-functional ASIC, hardware, firmware, validation, product engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Expertise in SSD firmware technologies including FTL, QoS, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad block management, ECC/error recovery, power-loss protection, and NAND flash management.
  • Experience with enterprise storage interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI.
  • Experience with SSD security technologies such as TCG Opal, IEEE 1667, ESSC, AES, Secure Boot, and firmware authentication.
  • Experience working with controller ASIC and hardware architecture teams on next-generation product capabilities.
  • Experience with QLC/PLC NAND, Zoned Namespaces, Computational Storage, CXL, and NVMe over Fabrics is preferred.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle, CI/CD, automated validation, and embedded-firmware release management.
  • Strong written, presentation, communication, influencing, leadership, multitasking, and customer-engagement skills.
