Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition and high-level design of architectural solutions for a specific platform.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts, evaluate alternatives, and guide technology teams in architecture decisions.
  • Coordinate architectural solutions and dependencies across pods and platform groups.
  • Define and promote reusable architecture designs, methodologies, standards, and patterns.
  • Ensure solutions comply with bank policies, technology-domain architecture, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Monitor project and application status, analyze architecture KPIs and KRIs, and maintain alignment with strategic direction.
  • Provide architecture consulting and guidance on technology choices, cost, risk, delivery timelines, and enterprise assets.
  • Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, architecture, product, and business stakeholders across platforms.
  • Identify architectural gaps and emerging industry trends while supporting change-management and design-review processes.
  • May recruit, direct, motivate, and develop staff in addition to individual-contributor responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 12 years of experience in technology and architecture roles involving distributed systems; the posting also describes a minimally expected 15+ years of industry experience for the role’s level of influence.
  • Significant financial-services experience within banking, preferably across securities, asset servicing, custody, trading, clearance, treasury, credit, or related domains.
  • Seasoned developer or technical lead with expert knowledge of architecture frameworks, technologies, tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with multiple data platforms, distributed systems, on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-based environments.
  • Experience designing solutions spanning multiple business units or products and handling complex integrations across applications and data types.
  • Knowledge of BNY applications, bank standards, infrastructure, and architectural design solutions is preferred.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder coordination, problem-solving, and technical decision-alignment skills.
  • Experience in securities or financial-services industries and agile development is preferred.
