Responsibilities
- Set the multi-year technical vision and architecture for DoorDash's event streaming platform.
- Lead large-scale streaming initiatives, including re-architecting toward diskless, object-store-backed streaming.
- Deep dive into Kafka and modern streaming systems to solve organizational challenges.
- Own architectural decisions with significant company-wide impact.
- Debug and resolve complex distributed systems issues in production.
- Raise the technical bar through design reviews and mentorship.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape roadmaps and platform strategy.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with event streaming systems like Kafka at scale.
- Strong engineering skills in Java, Go, or similar languages.
- Proven track record of leading cross-team initiatives and influencing technical direction.
- Strong fundamentals in Linux, networking, storage, and JVM-based systems.
- Understanding of object-store-backed streaming trade-offs.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical decisions.
