Senior Software Engineer
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of the timekeeping platform processing tens of millions of shift events each week.
- Build, operate, and improve core backend systems at large scale.
- Own systems end to end, with emphasis on quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Lead design, estimation, implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment across the development lifecycle.
- Ship software that impacts restaurant operations and Toast’s growth.
- Partner with product and design teams to influence product and technical direction.
- Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Kotlin.
- Experience owning and operating production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous, high-impact problems and deliver scalable solutions.
- Ability and motivation to learn quickly and apply knowledge to real-world problems.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and willingness to build systems operating at massive scale.
