Base Salary
$170k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect the autonomy stack for perception, planning, control, onboard reasoning, adaptation, and swarm coordination.
- Define inter-robot and command-and-control communication protocols for tactical decision-making at the edge.
- Make architectural tradeoffs involving onboard versus offboard compute, centralized versus distributed decision-making, and determinism versus adaptability.
- Mentor and technically guide robotics engineers.
- Write clean, maintainable, efficient, testable, and reliable code.
- Travel up to 25% for onsite testing and integration events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience building and deploying autonomy software at a major aerospace company or serious autonomous vehicle program.
- Demonstrated ownership of the architecture for a shipped autonomous system.
- Deep expertise in at least one systems language: C, C++, Rust, or Go.
- Experience deploying and validating frontier autonomy systems, including vision-language-action models, learned world models, trajectory optimization, sensor fusion, and multi-agent coordination.
- Experience with multi-agent or swarm systems is preferred.
- Experience with DDS, ROS2, ZeroMQ, gRPC, Protobuf, and government UxS interoperability standards such as OMS/UCI, STANAG 4586, or FACE is preferred.
- Prior tech lead, staff engineer, or architect responsibility on an autonomy team is preferred.
