Base Salary
$170k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop Shepherd’s AI product strategy with other engineers
- Iterate on and experiment with AI implementations across the platform
- Work across the frontend and backend stack and collaborate across disciplines
- Own features and systems from conception through release while balancing innovation with pragmatic delivery
- Contribute to product strategy and architectural decisions
- Mentor other engineers and help build the company’s engineering culture
- Collaborate closely with product management, the CTO, underwriters, actuaries, and other insurance team members
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional work experience, preferably as a full-stack engineer
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript on the backend and/or frontend
- Track record of delivering high-impact products
- Ability to take end-to-end ownership of features and systems from conception through release
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to major projects
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort working amid ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and collaborating across engineering, product, design, and insurance
