Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end full-stack feature delivery across TypeScript web clients and Kotlin/Java backend services, including UX, APIs, data modeling, and persistence.
- Design and evolve authentication, account, invitation, onboarding, authoring, and administrative platform surfaces.
- Architect and implement REST and gRPC APIs and long-lived backend services reused across web, mobile, and native clients.
- Contribute to RFCs, architecture reviews, shared libraries, frameworks, developer tooling, and platform direction.
- Define and operate reliability targets, observability, performance optimization, security controls, and incident response for owned services.
- Partner with product, design, mobile, infrastructure, QA, and DevProd teams to plan, review, test, and release software.
- Improve web architecture, technical foundations, developer experience, technical debt, production stability, and scalability.
- Mentor mid-level and associate engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional full-stack web engineering experience shipping production systems used by real users.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript and a modern component framework, preferably React, including state management, accessible UI patterns, and browser performance optimization.
- Strong backend proficiency with Kotlin or Java on the JVM, or TypeScript for shared platform libraries and tooling, plus experience operating long-lived services.
- Understanding of HTTP, REST, gRPC, and protobuf, with experience designing service contracts.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and product data modeling, plus familiarity with DynamoDB, Redis, caching, queues, and eventual-consistency trade-offs.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines; familiarity with Linkerd, ArgoCD, and Terraform is preferred.
- Strong unit, integration, and end-to-end testing discipline and experience partnering with QA or DevProd.
- Strong written and verbal communication, design discussion leadership, RFC writing, and ability to explain technical trade-offs.
- Experience with authentication and identity systems such as OAuth/OIDC, SSO, session and token management, and third-party providers is preferred.
- Experience with authoring tools, CMSes, internal back-office applications, shared design systems, component libraries, Backstage, internal developer platforms, or developer productivity surfaces is preferred.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, structured logging, SigNoz, Grafana, and Datadog is preferred.
- Background in EdTech, K-12, FERPA, COPPA, WCAG, privacy, or accessibility requirements is preferred.
