Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test software for scalability, reliability, and data recovery on a high-volume, high-availability platform.
- Collaborate with Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Deploy new features to production with zero platform downtime and no impact on active customers.
- Develop and maintain Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, RESTful API, and event-driven solutions.
- Contribute to modernization from a complex monolith to scalable microservices.
- Apply software engineering expertise to ecommerce payments and new product features.
- Use pair programming and test-driven development practices while collaborating in a team-focused environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
- 7+ years of relevant Java software engineering experience, including internships.
- Strong database and schema design, SQL, and Java programming skills.
- Experience with financial systems, payments infrastructure, or high-volume transactional systems requiring precision and auditability.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and maintainable RESTful APIs and event-driven applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka.
- Ability to understand business goals, derive requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Preferred experience with microservices, globally distributed services, 24/7 support, monitoring, resilient platforms, AWS, OpenShift, deployment tools, observability tools, and unit testing frameworks.
- Pair programming experience or willingness to try pair programming.
