Responsibilities

Develop cutting-edge AI systems and robust data pipelines from rapid prototypes to scalable production solutions.
Ship LLM and GenAI features using RAG, tool use, planning, agent frameworks such as MCP, and multi-agent systems.
Build and operate high-throughput backend systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, caching strategies, and performance optimizations.
Design advanced retrieval systems using embeddings, chunking strategies, hybrid search, metadata schemas, knowledge graphs, evaluation frameworks, and production monitoring.
Drive architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and establish engineering best practices.
Develop cloud-native systems at scale and support innovative GenAI initiatives with a pragmatic product focus.

8+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production.
3+ years of experience shipping LLM or GenAI features to users.
Strong Python skills; TypeScript experience for integration work is preferred.
Strong machine learning fundamentals and hands-on experience with model evaluation and self-evolving agents.
Deep expertise in distributed systems design, API architecture, data modeling, asynchronous systems, event-driven architectures, caching, and performance optimization.
Advanced retrieval engineering experience with embeddings, chunking, hybrid search, schema and metadata design, knowledge graphs, evaluation frameworks, and production monitoring.
Proven technical leadership experience driving architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering best practices.
Experience with cloud-native development at scale, ideally using AWS; GCP experience is a strong plus.
Excellent English communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience with Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect is a bonus.
Technical writing, open-source contributions, industry speaking, and fluent German are additional bonuses.
