Base Salary
$190k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Embed directly with customers to understand workflows, constraints, and success criteria.
- Design, build, and deploy AI-driven solutions for real operational problems.
- Build and maintain production systems, including APIs, integrations, monitoring, and feedback loops.
- Translate business requirements and customer needs into technical architectures and implementations.
- Own deployments end-to-end from initial scoping through launch and iteration.
- Identify patterns across customer deployments and provide insights to core product and platform development.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to influence roadmaps, abstractions, and long-term system design.
- Set technical direction and best practices for the FDE team, including code quality, architecture, and deployment rigor.
- Mentor and unblock other FDEs while advising on ambiguous technical and customer tradeoffs.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience, ideally in Forward Deployed Engineering or backend/systems-focused work.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a senior technical contributor, operate with limited oversight, and set standards for others.
- Strong proficiency in Python; TypeScript or JavaScript experience is a plus.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into working, production-ready systems.
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently in fast-changing environments.
- Experience with AI systems, including LLMs, vector databases, prompt engineering, or agent frameworks, is a strong plus.
