Responsibilities
- Build AI agents that complete reservations, move-ins, payments, identity verification, gate-code, collections, renewals, and other operational workflows with auditable writes to systems of record.
- Design shared stateful agent experiences across voice, SMS, web chat, and email while maintaining tenant identity and conversation context.
- Implement outbound communication workflows with consent, quiet-hour, opt-out, and frequency-limit controls.
- Create safety guardrails for money and tenant-record workflows, including payment capture, confirmation, idempotency, scope limits, and human escalation.
- Integrate agents with legacy and poorly documented APIs using authentication, retries, timeouts, validation, and durable-write patterns.
- Own agents from pilot through production by building evaluations, regression runs, observability, and metrics for task completion, containment, escalation, latency, and inference cost.
- Analyze traces, transcripts, failures, and user outcomes to improve reliability, task completion, latency, and cost.
- Use AI-assisted development and testing tools and collaborate with product, design, operations, and engineering teams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on production software engineering experience building, deploying, monitoring, and operating backend services.
- Experience shipping at least one LLM-backed feature to real users and explaining its failures, measurement, and improvements.
- Experience using AI-assisted development and testing tools to improve engineering quality, speed, or reliability.
- Strong backend and API integration skills, including authentication, webhooks, retries, timeouts, idempotency, validation, and durable writes.
- Experience building multi-step, stateful workflows or services that manage conversation state, call external tools, handle failures, and support safe human escalation.
- Practical experience with tool or function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, structured model outputs, context management, prompt or context design, or agent-workflow orchestration.
- Experience evaluating and observing nondeterministic systems through task-success measurement, tool-call tracing, cost and latency management, and safe human escalation.
- Ability to work onsite in the Seattle, WA area 2–3 days per week.
- Bonus experience includes tenant-specific configuration, sensitive data, permissions, auditability, real-time voice or telephony systems, PCI-scoped payment flows, consent management, Redis, PostgreSQL, queues, durable workflow engines, event-driven systems, TypeScript, Go, Python, Twilio, LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel.
