Base Salary
$175k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own systems and product areas as the team’s go-to technical expert.
- Investigate, design, and execute solutions across ambiguous distributed-systems work.
- Architect, build, and maintain highly available, scalable REST APIs and backend services.
- Drive system decoupling, modularization, technical debt reduction, and long-term maintainability.
- Use autonomous AI-agent workflows as part of daily development and help shape AI adoption across engineering.
- Collaborate with product, data, and go-to-market teams in an async-first environment.
- Identify and eliminate single points of failure while improving resilience and knowledge redundancy.
- Improve engineering workflows, tooling, and internal utilities.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building large-scale, data-intensive backend systems and APIs.
- Daily experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent.
- Experience with some or all of Python, Go, Rust, React, and TypeScript.
- Working knowledge of event-driven distributed systems, Kafka, and distributed data processing technologies such as Flink or Spark.
- Experience scaling systems under production customer load, ideally to multi-terabyte scale.
- Experience designing high-scale systems on AWS with RDBMS, OLAP, NoSQL, and other database technologies.
- Ability to model relational data, design index strategies, and write performant SQL for transactional and analytical workloads.
- Experience with infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
- Familiarity building and observing applications on AWS and Kubernetes, ideally with Datadog, Signoz, or comparable observability tooling.
- Strong communication, prioritization, context-switching, and technical tradeoff skills.
- Experience with both 0-to-1 initiatives and complex existing systems.
