
Senior Cloud Security Engineer
Thought MachineResponsibilities
- Provide security expertise and mentorship to engineering teams during planning, design, and testing.
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable cloud-native preventative and detective security controls.
- Build and maintain automation to audit infrastructure-as-code and deployed infrastructure.
- Develop security tooling and contribute to third-party security products and existing internal tools.
- Co-develop threat models with engineering teams and identify mitigation strategies.
- Partner with cloud engineering and operations teams to maintain a secure production operating state.
- Perform security reviews and security testing.
- Lead complex projects involving security capabilities, tooling, and functionality.
- Contribute to security strategy and security tooling selection and creation.
Requirements
- Experience building and deploying containerized applications in public cloud environments using infrastructure automation.
- Knowledge of cloud networking architecture, cloud operations, security, automation, and orchestration.
- Experience with security threat modeling and design reviews.
- Knowledge of security in distributed systems and good security practices for containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Go, Python, or other modern programming languages.
- Coding experience creating, automating, and integrating security tools.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining security in public-cloud environments such as AWS and GCP.
- Ability to lead strong design practices involving creative and critical thinking, collaboration, evaluation of options, and objective decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desirable: experience building and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Desirable: experience with well-architected cloud security frameworks or CSA-CCM.
- Desirable: contributions to the security community through research, blogging, or presentations.
- Desirable: experience with penetration testing and security testing.
