Responsibilities
- Design and build next-generation cloud and systems monitoring infrastructure for globally scaled Apple services.
- Champion the availability, performance, scalability, and efficiency of customer-facing production services, including Alibaba Cloud workloads.
- Operate and improve monitoring, alerting, visualization, configuration management, provisioning, deployment, logging, and orchestration systems.
- Develop Python-based production software and automate manual operational processes using scripting and infrastructure-as-code.
- Lead or participate in incident response, incident management, on-call support, and investigation of systemic reliability issues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across geographically distributed data centers and global, asynchronous organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in an SRE or DevOps role supporting external production-grade web services, APIs, or SaaS applications.
- Production-grade Python development experience; Bash scripting proficiency is required, with Go and Rust exposure as a plus.
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating user-facing applications on Alibaba Cloud, with strong ACK or equivalent Kubernetes experience.
- Experience using Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and version-controlled production environments; Pulumi experience is a plus.
- Experience or knowledge with the Prometheus ecosystem and comfort with Helm, Pulumi, Terraform, and Spinnaker.
- Experience with cloud database persistence, backups, and failovers using RDS MySQL, PostgreSQL, or PolarDB is preferred.
- Cross-border optimization experience using Alibaba Cloud CEN or Express Connect is preferred.
- Experience securing tenant data with Alibaba Cloud RAM and KMS and ensuring compliance with ISO 27001, SOC2, or local data privacy laws is preferred.
- Alibaba Cloud Certified Professional or Expert certification is preferred.
- Strong ownership, communication, collaboration, incident response, automation, and complex reliability-investigation skills.
