Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the macOS client at the center of the endpoint security solution.
- Shape architecture and provide technical direction for increasingly complex projects.
- Review requirements, identify gaps and limitations, and communicate proposed improvements with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure code quality through rigorous reviews, pull-request feedback, unit testing, and development guidelines.
- Improve build, deployment, and test automation; identify and resolve technical debt.
- Collaborate with the team to define work clearly and deliver quality outcomes each sprint.
- Investigate customer issues escalated to engineering and incorporate findings into the product.
- Track emerging macOS and security technologies and improve engineering tools and processes.
- Become the development expert for at least one product area and mentor other team members.
Requirements
- A degree in a software engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of commercial software engineering experience for the Software Development Engineer level; senior-level candidates typically have 5 or more years and demonstrable technical leadership.
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience with specialist depth in at least one technical area.
- Hands-on macOS development proficiency with Swift, Objective-C, and/or C++ and experience building systems-level or endpoint security software.
- Experience developing and managing macOS launch daemons, launch agents, unified logging, and XPC components.
- Hands-on experience directing and critically reviewing agentic AI development tools such as Claude Code.
- Experience with formal software development methodologies.
- Preferred experience includes Qt, Apple’s System Extension framework and Endpoint Protection, Apple’s authorization system, the sudo plugin framework, the macOS kernel, and the Mandatory Access Control Framework.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications and relevant domain or product expertise are desirable.
