Base Salary

$102k - $219k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and iterate on Azure Container Linux bare-metal platform capabilities across partner clouds and third-party server hardware.
  • Drive machine lifecycle workflows including OS image creation, hardware bring-up, unattended provisioning, secure updates, rollback, recovery, and firmware updates.
  • Develop portable integration layers and automation for varying boot environments, storage and networking configurations, hardware management interfaces, firmware behavior, and cloud control planes.
  • Build qualification, observability, and fleet-health systems to validate changes, detect regressions, diagnose failures, and support safe deployment at scale.
  • Partner with cloud providers, server and component vendors, Microsoft workload teams, and infrastructure teams to bring up platforms and resolve complex systems issues.
  • Support modernization of Linux engineering and production fleets across cloud and edge environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Rust, Go, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred: Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred experience developing and debugging systems software on Linux.
  • Preferred experience with Linux on bare-metal or datacenter-class systems, including provisioning, image creation, updates, boot and recovery, firmware lifecycle, hardware enablement, or fleet management.
  • Preferred experience designing or operating automated bare-metal provisioning and lifecycle systems using UEFI, PXE or iPXE, initramfs, bootloaders, BMC management, Redfish, or equivalent interfaces.
  • Preferred experience with Linux image composition, package management, secure and transactional or image-based updates, rollback, recovery, and fleet-wide release orchestration.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is $102,100-$202,200 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan locations.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for a minimum of 5 days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
