Responsibilities
- Design and develop flight software for Astroscale spacecraft using C/C++, including software design, coding, unit testing, integrated scenario testing, validation, maintenance, and documentation.
- Investigate and resolve issues found through software testing, simulation, and integrated verification activities.
- Improve development environments, simulation environments, and engineering processes to increase development efficiency.
- Support SILS-based verification using flight software and Astroscale’s in-house spacecraft simulator.
- Develop and improve spacecraft simulation models, including sensor, actuator, flexible-body, and related simulation components.
- Develop and maintain Python-based tools for testing, analysis, automation, and simulation support.
- Clarify requirements with subsystem teams and support subsystem verification and integration testing.
- Identify issues, propose improvements, and drive tasks forward collaboratively with other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on real-time software engineering or development experience, including design, coding, debugging, testing, configuration management, and version control.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, plus experience with Java.
- Experience with modern software development tools and workflows, including Git, Linux, and Docker.
- Proactive work style with the ability to identify problems, clarify ambiguity, propose solutions, and advance work without detailed step-by-step direction.
- Excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
- Business-level English language skills.
- Experience with closed-loop control processing, SILS, HILS, test benches, or integrated software verification environments is desirable.
- Experience developing and validating engineering-system simulation models, including sensing, actuation, environmental effects, and system dynamics, is desirable.
- Experience with agile development processes and Jira/Confluence is desirable.
- Knowledge of AOCS, GNC, FDIR, control systems, or spacecraft dynamics is desirable.
