Responsibilities
- Own features and projects from scoping and design through production.
- Design and maintain scalable, robust, flexible, and maintainable back-end systems.
- Build and improve the Lending API, developer tools, and embedded partner integrations.
- Deliver functionality that supports onboarding new partners and improves partner-referred customer conversion.
- Run experiments such as randomised control trials and use data to refine product decisions.
- Collaborate with engineers, partners, data scientists, and internal commercial stakeholders.
- Improve code, documentation, and processes while contributing to team goals.
Requirements
- Experience designing and building scalable back-end systems, ideally using Python.
- Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including performance and maintainability considerations.
- Experience building and maintaining reliable, usable, and well-documented APIs.
- Experience managing technical projects end to end, from business problem definition through delivery.
- Pragmatic judgment when balancing delivery speed with long-term system health.
- Clear written and verbal communication and a collaborative team approach.
- Experience using AI coding tools to deliver real work and interest in improving AI-assisted development practices.
- Front-end development experience with React and TypeScript is a bonus.
- Experience with DevOps practices, containerisation, and CI/CD pipelines is a bonus.
- Experience with experimentation or data-driven product decisions is a bonus.
- Working knowledge of Snowflake and dbt for analytical or reporting pipelines is a bonus.
