Base Salary
$140k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the physical lab, including facilities, equipment, parts procurement, and project scheduling for customer PoCs, internal R&D, and hardware integrations.
- Lead fabrication and assembly of prototype rigs, sensor arrays, 3D-printed mounts, and microelectronic setups.
- Instrument physical systems and capture, clean, and preprocess high-frequency acoustic, vibration, electrical, and motor-current data.
- Design DSP feature-extraction pipelines using FFTs, spectral analysis, and filtering, and deploy optimized quantized TinyML models to microcontrollers.
- Debug edge firmware and demonstrate live hardware solutions with customers and internal product teams.
- Mentor junior engineers in firmware debugging, signal processing, and physical prototype fabrication.
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related technical discipline; a BSEE with extensive, demonstrable lab leadership experience will also be evaluated.
- 7–12+ years of hands-on experience in embedded software, physical hardware prototyping, digital signal processing, and real-time edge computing.
- Expertise in physical system fabrication, 3D printing, electrical assembly, PCB bring-up, and low-level debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD.
- Strong C/C++ programming for constrained microcontrollers, bare-metal or RTOS development, DMA buffer management, and low-level drivers using SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN.
- Deep understanding of DSP for time-series and audio data and practical experience deploying quantized ML models directly onto microcontrollers.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M and Renesas RA, RX, or RL78 microcontrollers and TinyML tools such as TFLite Micro, CMSIS-NN, or eIQ.
