Base Salary
$120k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain backend systems that manage and communicate with hundreds of thousands of concurrent IoT devices.
- Build high-throughput delivery systems for emergency notifications across SIP, multicast, MQTT-based device networks, and desktop agents.
- Lead integrations between the cloud SaaS platform and remote physical hardware for real-time emergency responses.
- Mentor the team and establish best practices for Node.js development, API design, and asynchronous communication.
- Implement monitoring and alerting frameworks to identify and resolve code and delivery-pipeline bottlenecks.
- Evolve audio and video communication protocols for low-latency, high-fidelity streaming.
- Guide the team through complex technical challenges while maintaining focus on impact and delivery.
- Travel occasionally as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of related experience.
- Deep expertise building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade Node.js applications in a microservices environment.
- Experience designing complex SaaS solutions using distributed systems and high-availability architecture.
- Significant experience with relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity for high-concurrency applications.
- Practical knowledge of SIP, multicast, and web-based communication protocols.
- Experience managing high-throughput data delivery and meeting strict reliability SLAs.
- Strong command of asynchronous messaging patterns such as RabbitMQ and Kafka and robust API integration strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to guide a team through complex technical hurdles.
- Preferred qualifications include database performance tuning at scale, distributed database management, professional hardware or IoT experience, low-latency video streaming knowledge, and experience in emergency notification, security, or mission-critical software.
