Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, documentation, support, and modernization of complex enterprise software systems and integrations.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for IBM iSeries, AS400, RPG development, legacy system behavior, and inventory-management workflows.
- Lead Level 3 triage, incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions for business-critical production systems.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and high-impact initiatives spanning applications, business domains, and stakeholders.
- Review system designs, architecture proposals, code changes, secure coding practices, engineering standards, and technical solution recommendations.
- Support integrations, batch jobs, interfaces, APIs, and downstream systems while maintaining operational continuity.
- Drive modernization, observability, maintainability, stability, reliability, and long-term sustainability improvements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations, Client Care, Architecture, and business teams, and communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Define metrics and recommend improvements to software quality, cycle time, service availability, operational effectiveness, and customer experience.
- Mentor engineers, facilitate technical reviews and knowledge sharing, and promote AI adoption and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 6 years of experience developing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise-scale software solutions.
- At least 6 years of experience with IBM i systems and RPG software development.
- At least 6 years of experience with a modern scripting or programming language for automation, tooling, and systems integration.
- At least 4 years of experience supporting complex integrations and operationally critical business systems.
- At least 4 years of experience troubleshooting highly complex production issues and leading Level 3 support activities.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting or engaging high-profile or enterprise-level user accounts.
- Experience with AI technologies for software development lifecycle and day-to-day activities.
- Experience supporting mission-critical applications in high-pressure, high-concurrency, transaction-sensitive environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, secure coding practices, stakeholder management, and communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred: experience modernizing legacy IBM i environments and integrating them with cloud-native or distributed architectures.
- Preferred: 10 or more years of combined RPG and modern scripting/application development experience.
- Preferred: experience with observability platforms, automation, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
- Preferred: familiarity with vehicle operations, inventory management, vehicle lifecycle workflows, and commercial account operations.
- Preferred: experience mentoring engineers, evaluating emerging technologies, and using AI to design, implement, and accelerate safe and secure software.
