Responsibilities
- Own the design, delivery, architecture, and day-to-day operation of the AI agent platform.
- Build runtime primitives including durable sessions, sandboxed execution environments, long-running task execution, memory, and tool integration.
- Evaluate emerging models, agent SDKs, protocols, and orchestration patterns and establish supported platform primitives.
- Design integrations with enterprise systems and scientific computing infrastructure, including standards for tools, skills, and context.
- Implement governance and safety controls such as permissions, human approval flows, capability boundaries, audit logging, cost controls, and defenses against prompt injection and tool abuse.
- Build evaluation, session tracing, quality assessment, and cost and latency observability for non-deterministic agent systems.
- Operate production workloads on Kubernetes and Google Cloud with reliability and failure-handling discipline.
- Work with expert internal users to shape the platform roadmap and build consensus across teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python and distributed backend systems expertise.
- Experience architecting, building, and operating production-grade agentic or LLM systems beyond the prototype stage.
- Hands-on knowledge of MCP, agent SDKs and CLIs, multi-agent orchestration, and sandboxed code execution.
- Production experience with Kubernetes and a major cloud platform, ideally Google Cloud, including stateful long-running services.
- Experience treating evaluation and observability as platform features.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform and CI/CD.
- Ability to work with expert technical users, communicate clearly, and build consensus across teams.
- Preferred experience with model gateways and routing, scientific or high-performance computing, batch schedulers, HPC clusters, or simulation-heavy environments.
- Preferred open-source contributions to AI or agent tooling and a record of technical mentorship.
Benefits
- Work on complex technology challenges aimed at delivering abundant, safe, clean energy.
