Responsibilities

  • Own core data pipelines end-to-end and define and manage SLAs for pipelines, services, and datasets.
  • Lead the architecture and long-term technical direction of the offline experimentation platform and route simulation services.
  • Evolve data models and schemas to meet business and engineering requirements.
  • Develop AI-assisted tools for self-service ETL pipeline management and schema evolution.
  • Perform hands-on SQL tuning and optimize data processing performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code and architecture reviews.
  • Manage on-call rotations and improve team processes.
  • Mentor engineers, present brown bags, and promote engineering best practices across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional backend or data engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with Spark and a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
  • Experience with distributed storage, querying, and streaming technologies such as ClickHouse, Hive, Presto, Delta, Iceberg, or Kafka.
  • Strong SQL skills with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar databases, including advanced performance tuning and high-volume event-data querying.
  • Hands-on experience with data quality tools such as dbt, Great Expectations, or Monte Carlo.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration such as Airflow or Prefect and infrastructure tooling such as Terraform, Docker, or Kubernetes, preferably in AWS.
  • Experience designing API schemas and building backend services in a microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency using AI tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor to accelerate engineering workflows.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration, vector databases, experimentation or simulation platforms, or large-scale A/B testing infrastructure is a bonus.
