Base Salary
$152k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters.
- Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and schema design.
- Perform capacity planning and workload modeling.
- Own high-availability strategies including automatic failover.
- Develop automation for provisioning, configuration, and backups.
- Build monitoring and self-healing systems for databases.
- Lead response during database incidents and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Partner with software engineers to optimize SQL and schemas.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in high-volume environments.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals and performance tuning.
- Production experience with MySQL and its internals.
- Advanced SQL skills and understanding of schema design.
- Experience with Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience building automation with Go or Python.
- Production experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
