Responsibilities
- Design and operate the molecule queue that brokers compounds between AI Scientists and the Make-Test platform, including state management, batching, prioritization, and read/write contracts.
- Build the canonical compound and structure registry with SMILES/InChI normalization, stereochemistry handling, salt and parent resolution, duplicate detection, and stable internal identifiers.
- Create pipelines for ChemSpeed synthesis, LCMS, NMR, and bioassay-reader data, capturing identity, purity, dose-response, IC50/EC50, ADMET, and selectivity results.
- Maintain synthesis constraints and inventory state covering building blocks, advanced precursors, ChemSpeed capacity, stock alerts, reaction types, step budgets, and solvent compatibility.
- Own data quality, lineage, schema evolution, observability, and service-level targets for the computational-to-experimental feedback loop.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, chemistry, computational biology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience building production data platforms, ideally with scientific or laboratory-generated data.
- Experience designing and shipping ingestion frameworks, registries, storage abstractions, and orchestration systems from the ground up.
- Fluency in backend production APIs and services, Python, and SQL, with production-quality coding skills.
- Production experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, evolving scientific schemas, query optimization, and structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Ability to model chemical and biological data, including structures, reactions, assays, dose-response data, batches, replicates, censored values, and failed runs.
- Experience with AWS and containerized deployment using Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
- Preferred experience with RDKit, OpenEye, CDD Vault, Dotmatics, Benchling Registry, ELN/LIMS, mzML, AnIML, Flyte, Airflow, Dagster, Temporal, Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi, DuckDB, Polars, Spark, ChemSpeed, Chemspeed SWING, Opentrons, or HTS readers.
- Preferred domain experience includes pharma, biotech, academic drug discovery, SAR, ADMET, IC50/EC50, DEL screening, and infrastructure for agentic or LLM-driven workflows.
