
Sr Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Hyper-V Virtualization & Infrastructure Engineering

Base Salary
$162k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect Microsoft Hyper-V cluster designs across global pools using WSFC, live migration, S2D, and vSwitch/SET topologies.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, patching, compliance enforcement, and decommissioning with PowerShell, DSC, and platform APIs.
- Develop and maintain a C#/.NET 8 workload management and orchestration platform.
- Benchmark compute and storage performance and use results to guide platform and capacity decisions.
- Diagnose issues across compute, storage, networking, clustering, and hypervisor layers.
- Evaluate server bills of materials for Hyper-V suitability and provide performance-focused hardware guidance.
- Remediate vulnerabilities and enforce security and platform baselines in partnership with security teams.
- Document reference architectures, decision records, and operational runbooks.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Validate AI-assisted recommendations and promote reuse-first, traceable, auditable AI-assisted infrastructure practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in infrastructure disciplines and 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Deep Microsoft Hyper-V expertise, including WSFC, live migration, S2D, and virtual networking with vSwitch/SET.
- Strong PowerShell skills for automation, operational tooling, and configuration management.
- Experience with full-stack performance auditing and virtualized storage optimization across compute, storage, networking, and hypervisor layers.
- Experience with data-center-scale automation and configuration tooling such as DSC, SCCM, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Ability to plan and deliver production changes using disciplined risk management and zero-downtime upgrade strategies.
- Working proficiency in C#/.NET or equivalent for automation and orchestration services.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for infrastructure automation artifacts.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Preferred experience with VMware ESXi or KVM, Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC, NVMe, GPU, VLANs, SDN, load balancing, Microsoft System Center, Qualys, elbencho, VMFleet, diskspd, or fio.
