Senior Software Engineer - BQL Reliability Engineering

Base Salary

$160k - $240k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain software and self-service platform capabilities that improve BQL reliability at scale.
  • Build automated diagnostic tools that analyze telemetry and system behavior to identify failures, regressions, and root causes.
  • Develop software that improves incident detection and diagnosis and reduces MTTD and MTTR.
  • Engineer observability capabilities using metrics, logs, traces, and other system signals.
  • Partner with engineering teams on system design, instrumentation, SLIs, and SLOs.
  • Improve platform resilience through load testing, stress testing, canary releases, controlled experiments, and failure testing.
  • Eliminate recurring operational problems through software, automation, and platform architecture improvements.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in software engineering, reliability engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems and experience developing or operating distributed applications in production.
  • Experience improving the performance, availability, resilience, or scalability of medium- to large-scale systems.
  • Experience with production software delivery, deployment, release management, testing, and safely introducing changes into distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using production data and system telemetry.
  • BA, BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Preferred experience with developer platforms, reliability tooling, observability systems, production telemetry, SLIs, SLOs, resilience testing, statistical methods, large-scale datasets, A/B tests, controlled experiments, and regulated environments.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $160,000-$240,000 annually, plus benefits and bonus.
