Base Salary
$155k - $213k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement sensored and sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motors.
- Develop inverter pulse-width modulation, position and velocity estimation, current control, efficiency optimization, and closed-loop servo position control.
- Develop fault detection, isolation, and reconfiguration logic for safety-critical systems.
- Optimize motor controls using MATLAB Simulink and develop C/C++ wrappers and interfaces for Simulink code.
- Develop, simulate, validate, and test controls algorithms and system-level actuator models with inverters and servo controls.
- Oversee dynamometer testing, interpret test data, and tune and calibrate systems on dynamometers, test stands, and aircraft.
- Perform unit, subsystem validation, integration, flight, and processor/hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Decompose system-level requirements into software requirements and collaborate with hardware, mechanical, integration, and flight-testing teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
- 10+ years of related technical experience, including mechanical, electrical, computer, robotics, or mechatronics engineering.
- Experience with actuation systems and/or servo control in safety-critical applications.
- Experience developing embedded applications in C/C++ and using MATLAB Simulink model-based design for controls development.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers for electronics debugging.
- Basic understanding of version control technologies.
- Experience with processor/hardware-in-the-loop verification and debugging.
- Experience creating mathematical models of servo systems for system identification, analysis, and simulation.
- Knowledge of electromechanical systems and electrical-mechanical interactions in servo systems.
- Desired advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
- Desired technical experience with aerospace actuation and controls system development.
- Desired knowledge of feedback control, PID control, advanced control techniques, real-time bare-metal firmware, and hard real-time interrupt-driven software.
