Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evolve the Trust Service API from contract design through database queries and production deployment.
- Own the trust inspection data model and REST API contract, including compatibility, versioning, and separation of public and internal interfaces.
- Ensure correctness under concurrent load and resolve database query-plan and service performance bottlenecks.
- Improve reliability through observability, structured logging, alerting, safe deployments, and on-call response.
- Write and review complex SQL queries against the identity graph schema and manage schema migration risks.
- Coordinate with Identity, Platform, Product, Architecture, and consumer-facing teams on data contracts, inspection types, and trust-chain dependencies.
- Independently drive small-to-medium backend features with minimal oversight while maintaining production-quality code and rollback safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 4 years of professional software development experience focused on backend service engineering, preferably with Java or another JVM language.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Strong experience with relational databases, complex SQL queries, query plans, and production database schemas.
- Experience designing and versioning REST APIs backed by OpenAPI specifications.
- Preferred: experience with modern Java and type-safety features such as records, sealed interfaces, and pattern matching.
- Preferred: familiarity with graph or highly relational data models, entity relationships, and traversal patterns.
- Preferred: understanding of identity and trust decisions, credential verification, reliability differences among verification methods, and trust expiration or decay.
- Preferred: experience with NIST 800-63-3, OAuth2, or OpenID Connect.
- Preferred: track record of shipping well-tested backend features with careful attention to failure modes, rollback safety, and backward-compatible schema changes.
- Preferred: startup or high-growth company experience with strong ownership and execution.
