Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for Reddit’s Android platform as it scales to the next 100M+ daily active users.
- Lead cross-team initiatives and create multi-quarter roadmaps for ambiguous Android platform problems.
- Drive developer experience strategy to accelerate build and test cycles and improve release safety.
- Architect Android client health and observability foundations involving events, traces, and dashboards.
- Improve Android app reliability, performance, and developer productivity across teams.
- Apply AI to developer and agent workflows, including code generation, refactoring, static analysis, and CI checks.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through architectural reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years building Android applications.
- Track record of leading complex Android initiatives from problem definition through delivery and sustained adoption.
- Experience setting technical direction and delivering shared platform capabilities in a large Android codebase used by multiple teams and millions of daily active users.
- Deep expertise in Kotlin, Android lifecycle and concurrency, Jetpack Compose, and Kotlin coroutines.
- Experience with Android platform or infrastructure work such as shared libraries, frameworks, experiments, logging, navigation, startup or session orchestration, networking, or caching.
- Evidence of measurable improvements to app reliability, performance, or developer productivity.
- Ability to influence without formal authority, build consensus across engineering, product, design, and data partners, and communicate technical strategy clearly.
- Practical experience applying AI to engineering workflows with measurable benefit.
