Responsibilities
- Build distributed backend services and event-driven pipelines that ingest, process, and serve content at massive scale.
- Lead projects from design and architecture through launch.
- Model data and schemas for performance, scalability, and growth.
- Ensure backend systems remain reliable in production.
- Drive technical decisions across partner teams.
- Serve as a technical lead, mentoring engineers and raising engineering quality when applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 5–10 years of experience shipping scalable, maintainable, and testable backend systems.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring for backend service development.
- Experience designing and building high-scale distributed backend services with event-driven architectures and pipelines such as Kafka.
- Experience with data stores, data modeling, and schema design for production systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools for design, coding, and testing.
- Preferred: technical leadership, mentoring, and architecture-direction experience.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra, including query-driven data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Preferred: experience with search technologies such as Apache Solr.
- Preferred: experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and build tools such as Gradle or Bazel.
