Responsibilities
- Analyze complex legacy mainframe codebases, including COBOL and PL/I, using generative AI tools.
- Identify code patterns, dependencies, and optimization opportunities.
- Use AI to refactor, translate, and re-architect mainframe applications into modern languages and architectures.
- Implement AI-driven code generation while maintaining code quality and maintainability.
- Design and implement data migration strategies for legacy systems to modern databases or cloud platforms.
- Use AI to automate data transformation and preserve data integrity.
- Develop and execute testing plans covering functional and performance requirements.
- Use AI for automated test-case generation and test execution.
- Collaborate with mainframe experts, architects, developers, and stakeholders on modernization goals and constraints.
- Apply emerging generative AI advancements to improve modernization processes.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience using LLMs through APIs such as Claude and Gemini.
- Familiarity with different LLM architectures and their strengths and weaknesses.
- Understanding of prompt engineering techniques.
- Hands-on technical experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions.
- Cloud certifications in architecture, data engineering, and/or machine learning are preferred.
- Government technology project or program experience is preferred.
- Ability to connect with stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
