Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and observable infrastructure for OnStar mobile, web, in-vehicle, backend, and integration services.
  • Drive configuration management, infrastructure refactoring, and testing-framework adoption to strengthen system resilience.
  • Improve service reliability, deployment safety, and incident response practices across SRE, development, and product teams.
  • Develop observability practices using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, automated alerting, and actionable SLO dashboards.
  • Support on-call operations, lead blameless postmortems, and guide root cause analysis to prevent recurring failures.
  • Consult on reliability standards for new capabilities, releases, and platform initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to privacy, compliance, data-retention, and safety-certification tooling initiatives.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or systems engineering.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading project-level technical work.
  • Track record building and maintaining high-scale, cloud-native systems, preferably with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Expertise with Kubernetes and deployment strategies using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, with strong code-review and code-readability practices.
  • Experience leading cross-functional infrastructure, configuration-strategy, or organizational-tooling projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot live incidents and balance uptime against cost trade-offs.
  • Strong communication, influencing, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with privacy engineering, data security, or compliance frameworks is preferred.
