Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and observable infrastructure for OnStar customer-facing and backend services.
- Develop configuration management, infrastructure refactoring, and testing frameworks to improve resilience.
- Partner with SRE, development, and product teams to improve reliability, deployment safety, and incident response.
- Define reliability standards and provide strategic consultation for new capabilities, releases, and platform initiatives.
- Own observability strategy using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, automated alerting, and SLO dashboards.
- Improve on-call practices, lead blameless postmortems, and guide root cause analysis.
- Mentor engineers and support a culture of operational excellence and ownership.
- Support privacy-driven engineering, data retention, compliance, and safety certification initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or systems engineering.
- Experience managing or mentoring high-impact teams.
- Experience building and maintaining high-scale, cloud-native systems, preferably with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Expertise in Kubernetes and deployment strategies.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, with strong code review and readability practices.
- Experience leading cross-functional infrastructure, configuration strategy, or organizational tooling projects.
- Ability to debug live incidents and balance uptime against cost trade-offs.
- Familiarity with privacy engineering, data security, or compliance frameworks is preferred.
- Strong communication, influence, mentoring, and cross-team leadership skills.
