Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that prevent Wise customers from scams.
- Develop backend and frontend systems for scam prevention and detection, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Design, improve, and operate scalable financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems.
- Own projects end to end, make data-driven decisions, and increase automation levels.
- Develop systems that protect customer funds and support Wise’s money transfer product.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic.
- Experience with React-based frontend applications and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and working with distributed and concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability, test-driven development practices, and coding standards.
- Strong product mindset, accountability, independent project ownership, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts across teams.
